As part of CAAHEP’s silver anniversary celebration I have been invited to talk about what took place during my term as President of the CAAHEP Board. I will get to that later but first let’s talk a little about just how unlikely it is that this celebration is even taking place. Twenty-five years of granting accreditation to allied health programs is just something that doesn’t happen that often. The AMA’s CAHEA was around for a long time, but not twenty-five years. As we celebrate, we need to take a minute to thank those on the transition committee and all of those past commissioners that took both the AMA’s in-kind service that helped to get us off the ground and their gold standard of programmatic accreditation; that in 25 years has never slipped below gold.
