CoA RATE will complete the first review of application in June 2017. To be eligible for this review, interested programs must submit the Request for Accreditation Services form by June 7, 2017 and submit their completed self-study by June 21, 2017. All future requests for accreditation services must be submitted by the 1st Wednesday and self-studies by the 3rd Wednesday of the current month to be reviewed during that month. All forms submitted after will be reviewed the subsequent month.


General steps for submitting application and subsequent process:*
The steps below present a high-level overview of the full accreditation process. The full process is well-documented in the policies & procedures manual, and further detail is included in the self-study document itself, as well as the site visitors' handbook. The standards and curriculum map worksheet should be used as guides when completing the self-study.


1.  Complete Request for Accreditation Services form
2.  CoA RATE contact reviews form for completeness and relevance and invites submission of self-study document 
​​​2a. The committee reviews the form to make sure the college/university is accredited, the program is a minimum of 1 year in length, the program is on a relevant topic, payment is provided in full, and the program has provided a commitment related to when their self-study will be submitted.
3.  Program director submits self-study and $2,000 review fee to CoA RATE administrator
4.  CoA RATE administrator reviews for completeness and circulates to selected site visitors
5.  CoA RATE administrator contacts program director to schedule site visit
6.  Prior to site visit, program director submits $2,000 site visit fee
7.  Site visitors conduct site visit 
8.  Site visitors prepare report to CoA RATE on findings
9.  CoA RATE recommends accreditation to CAAHEP
10. CAAHEP notifies program of accreditation status
*Each program's unique circumstance may require deviation in steps, including but not limited to, additional exchange of self-study if incomplete, informal discussions with program director to clarify items on application form or self-study, etc.
